Cherry Hill Contract Value:$26.6 Million
Project Description:The
Maryland 450 Reconstruction Project located on the outskirts of the
City of Bowie was awarded to Cherry Hill in the spring of 2002 by the
Maryland State Highway Administration. The project included the
reconstruction of 3.6 miles of existing MD 450 in three major traffic
phases. The reconstruction effort included 320,000 cubic yards of dirt
cut-to-fill, demolition of the existing roadway, installation of 20,000
feet of storm drain, 3,000 feet of precast and cast-in-place noisewalls
and a single span bridge using concrete girders. Cherry Hill bridged
the gap between dirt and structures, while keeping a watchful eye on
the construction of augered caissons in running sand for the precast
noisewalls and the construction of the concrete girder bridge over the
CSX railroad.
