Chancery Building of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the United States of America
Washington, DC

Owner:
Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the United States

Construction Manager:
China Construction America, Inc.

Cherry Hill Contract Value:
$10.5 Million

Project Description:
During this project Cherry Hill performed all excavation, support of excavation and footing excavation. We were required to do all this by the 280th working day without impacting local communities and neighboring embassies. The project was located in a politically sensitive location, and we were working for a foreign owner which sometimes created language barriers. The project had a narrow support of excavation and excavation tolerances along with a 65 foot vertical soil nail wall. Along with early milestone dates we dealt with variable soil conditions, underground structures/obstacles as well as contaminated materials. Even with the obstacles and strict milestones we were able to finish the project two weeks ahead of schedule.

Scope of Work:
  • Excavation
  • Support of Excavation
  • Footing Excavation
  • 65 FT Vertical Nail Wall
Date of Completion: May 2006
