US 27 from SR 544 to Blue Heron Bay Blvd.
Haines City, FL
Owner:Florida Dept. of Transportation
CEI Engineer:HNTB Corporation
Cherry Hill Contract Value:$25 million
Project Description:This
FDOT project improves and widens 4 miles of US 27 in central Florida.
Since this stretch of US 27 is a heavily traveled business area, the
project demands extensive maintenance of traffic, including the
temporary signalization at 4 major intersections and 20 long term
traffic detours. In order to improve the flow of traffic and simplify
the work, Cherry Hill initiated a Value Engineering Change Proposal to
improve temporary and permanent construction methods of approaches to
the new Bridge over the CSX Railroad. Cherry Hill also worked with FDOT
to re-work the existing base on 1-1/2 miles of existing thru-lanes to
overcome constructability issues with existing vs. proposed
superelevation rates.
